History and Vintage at the Pink House

If you’ve spent time in Multnomah Village, chances are you’ve visited Multnomah Antiques, a longtime favorite filled with antiques, vintage crafts, and one-of-a-kind displays. Owner Judith has been a beloved part of the Multnomah Village community for decades. She has been a member of the Multnomah Village Business Association (MVBA) since the beginning and served as Board Treasurer for more than 10 years.

In 1975 Judith loved crafting and making dried bouquets and macramé. One day Judith and a friend went to a coffee shop with antiques and met a woman named Louis who told Judith, "You should check out Multnomah Village. I’m going to open up a restaurant there." It turns out that this woman was Louis, the founder of Fat City Cafe.

Judith first started in a very small building arranging dried flowers and macramé. She would display crafts upon vintage and antique goods and the antique and vintage goods sold quickly! The business changed rapidly and then moved into what is now Thinker Toys (7784 SW Capitol Hwy), and finally in the early 2000s into the "pink house" and it became home to Multnomah Antiques.

Judith fondly remembers gathering with fellow business owners for the MVBA’s in-person meetings every third Thursday at the Multnomah Arts Center (7688 SW Capitol Hwy, 97219). Her love for the village and its history makes her the perfect person to spotlight as the first in a series of community interviews celebrating the people who have helped shape the Multnomah Village business district.
